The Silent Threat - Preventing Firefighter Cancer The Fire Service has set up a comprehensive programme of work to focus on reducing firefighters’ exposure to carcinogens and other harmful substances in the workplace. The programme is a joint initiative involving the NZPFU and the UFBA. As part of this, this video aims to: • build awareness of the issue amongst firefighters • demonstrate our commitment to improving the health outcomes of our workforce • provide some simple self-help steps firefighters can take, and • generate feedback from the frontline around these issues.
